Max Fried To Start Game 1 Of NLDS Against Phillies

Atlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried (illness) will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. Right-hander Kyle Wright will get the nod in Game 2 on Wednesday in Atlanta. Fried left his final start of the season early with an illness, but he's completely fine now and will kick things off in the NLDS. The 28-year-old southpaw shouldn't face any restrictions on Tuesday against Philadelphia. Fried went 14-7 this year with a 2.48 ERA (2.70 FIP), a 1.01 WHIP, 170 strikeouts and 32 walks in 185 1/3 innings over 30 starts. In four starts against the Phillies, he went 0-1 and allowed eight earned runs on 23 hits while walking six and striking out 25 in 23 innings pitched.

    Max Fried Feeling Better

Atlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried (illness) said he was feeling better when he arrived at Truist Park on Sunday to receive treatment and play catch for about five minutes. Fried was limited to five innings in his start on Friday against the New York Mets due to a stomach bug. If the National League East hasn't been decided, Fried could start the regular season finale on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins. But if he isn't needed, he would be lined up to start Game 1 of the wild-card series or the NL Division series. Before leaving his start on Friday, the 28-year-old southpaw allowed a run on four hits while striking out three on 71 pitches.

Max Fried Leaves Friday's Start With Illness

Atlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried was removed from his Friday start against the New York Mets with an illness. Fried allowed one run on four hits over five innings while striking out three and walking none. He was replaced on the mound in the sixth inning by veteran right-hander Collin McHugh. Fried was caught on TV cameras throwing up during the contest and wound up throwing just 71 pitches. Fried has a 13-7 record, 2.48 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 170 strikeouts over 185 1/3 innings of work in 2022.

Max Fried Reinstated And Starting Thursday

The Atlanta Braves reinstated left-hander Max Fried (concussion) from the seven-day concussion injured list on Thursday and optioned right-hander Freddy Tarnok to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Fried will make his return to the starting rotation on Thursday against the division-rival New York Mets. The 28-year-old southpaw will be making his first big-league start since Aug. 6, so he'll be a little more risky for fantasy managers than usual, especially in a tough matchup. Fried has been pretty solid against the Mets in 2022, though, posting a 3.18 ERA with 16 strikeouts and six walks in 17 innings over three starts. The first-time All-Star has gone 10-4 this year with a sharp 2.60 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 127 K's and 25 walks in 138 1/3 innings over his 22 starts.
