Mets To Pick Up Daniel Vogelbach's Option
The New York Mets are planning to pick up first baseman Daniel Vogelbach's $1.5 million team option for the 2023 season, as expected. Vogelbach began the 2022 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates but spent the second half with the Mets after being traded, hitting .255/.393/.436 with an .830 OPS, six home runs, 25 RBI and 18 runs scored in 183 plate appearances. Overall in 130 games this year, the 29-year-old left-handed slugger slashed .238/.360/.433 with 18 long balls, 59 RBI and 47 runs scored. Vogelbach won't be a regular starter at first base with Pete Alonso the regular there, but he'll be a power bat off the bench for the Mets and an option for the designated hitter spot against right-handed pitching.
