Amir Garrett Avoids Arbitration With Royals
The Kansas City Royals and relief pitcher Amir Garrett avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.65 million deal. Garrett was better in 2022 than he was in his final season in Cincinnati in 2021, but he still wasn't of much use to fantasy managers in his first year with the Royals. He finished with a 4.96 ERA (3.40 FIP), 1.32 WHIP, no saves and a 25 percent strikeout rate in 45 1/3 relief innings covering 60 appearances. Garrett is tough on left-handed hitters but hasn't fared too well otherwise. He'll carry little fantasy appeal in deep holds leagues for a rebuilding Royals team as a setup man in front of closer Scott Barlow.
