  Kris Bryant Should Be Ready For Spring Training

  The Colorado Rockies are optimistic that third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant (foot) will be ready for spring training after he was limited to 42 games in 2022 due to plantar fasciitis. "Our trainers and strength guys have checked in with him and from everything I'm being told he looks good. We are optimistic about him showing up (healthy) at spring training," general manager Bill Schmidt said. When Bryant was on the field in his first year in Colorado, he hit well, slashing .306/.376/.475 with five home runs in 181 plate appearances. The 30-year-old is no longer in his prime, but he resides in the best hitting environment in baseball and could easily bounce back as a value pick in fantasy drafts if he's able to stay healthy in 2023. We'll be monitoring his status closely as spring training nears.

Bryant dealt with plantar fasciitis for much of the year after inking a seven-year, $182 million deal with the organization last March. But when he was on the field, he hit a strong .306/.376/.475 with five home runs in 181 plate appearances, giving the Rockies and fantasy managers hope that there's still plenty of juice left. Time will tell if he can stay healthy in 2023, but if he can, he could be a bargain in fantasy drafts.

The 30-year-old slugger mentioned he won't play again this season, but is excited for the 2023 campaign. This shouldn't shock anyone that the Rockies have decided to rest Bryant with only a few games left in the season. He hit .306/.376/.475 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 42 games with the Rockies. The right-hander slugger was sidelined most of the season due to a lingering foot issue. Hopefully, Bryant can rest and completely heal it over the offseason.

Depending on how he feels after the workout, he could progress fairly quickly into a rehab assignment and play games in the final week of the season. It has been a frustrating, injury-riddled season for Bryant and his fantasy managers, as he has missed time due to a multitude of injuries, with the latest being plantar fasciitis. When he has been healthy, Bryant has been good. He is slashing .306/.376/.475 on the season with five homers in 181 plate appearances. If only he could stay healthy and do it over the course of a full season. The 30-year-old will be an interesting player to debate during the offseason, as he has the talent to be a stud in fantasy, but he likely won't go high in drafts due to his injury history.
