    Noah Syndergaard Chooses The Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a one-year deal worth $13 million with free-agent right-hander Noah Syndergaard on Wednesday. The 30-year-old is expected to join the team's starting rotation next year to help make up for the losses of Tyler Anderson and Andrew Heaney. The man they call Thor began the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Angels before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies at the deadline in early August. In total, he went 10-10 with a 3.94 ERA (3.83 FIP) with a 1.25 WHIP and a career-low 16.8 percent strikeout rate in 134 2/3 innings over 25 appearances (24 starts). Last year was Syndergaard's first season back after having Tommy John surgery, and his velocity was noticeably down, making him mostly a league-average pitcher. He'll be hoping the Dodgers coaching staff can get him back on track in 2023.

Noah Syndergaard To Start World Series Game 5 Thursday

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard will toe the rubber in Thursday's World Series Game 5 against the Houston Astros, potentially to close out the series. The opposing pitcher has not yet been announced. Thor has only pitched 5 1/3 innings this postseason with one start but has posted a stellar 1.69 ERA in his three outings. He compiled a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 16.8% strikeout rate in 24 starts with the Angels and Phillies. He will either be pitching to win the World Series or to give the Phillies a final home win before heading back to Houston.
