    Anthony Rizzo Returning To Yankees

The New York Yankees are re-signing first baseman Anthony Rizzo on Tuesday, according to a source. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that it's a two-year deal for around $17 million a year. Rizzo rejected the team's one-year, $19.65 million qualifying offer, but he'll be back on a multi-year deal. The 33-year-old and his left-handed power stroke is a perfect fit for the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium. In his first full year in the Bronx, Rizzo hit .224/.338/.480 with an .817 OPS, 32 home runs, 75 RBI, 77 runs scored and six stolen bases in 548 plate appearances over 130 regular season games. Staying in a potent Yankees offense with an excellent home park, Rizzo will once again be a great source of power, RBI and on-base percentage in 2023.

Anthony Rizzo Becomes A Free Agent

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo opted out of his $16 million option for the 2023 season on Monday and has become a free agent. Two of the Yankees' biggest sluggers -- Rizzo and Aaron Judge -- will be free agents this winter. The 33-year-old Rizzo hit just .224 in his first full season in the Bronx, but he also had a .338 on-base percentage, .480 slugging percentage, an .817 OPS, a career-high-tying 32 home runs, 75 RBI, 77 runs scored and six stolen bases in 548 plate appearances over 130 games. The short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium really suits the left-handed slugger, but he'll look for a bigger payday on the open market after having a very strong all-around year. He went 8-for-29 (.276) with two homers, eight RBI, four runs, five walks and eight strikeouts in nine playoff games.

Anthony Rizzo Has Three Hits In Return To Lineup

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back, head) was activated from the injured list on Sunday and returned with a bang in the 12-8 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, going 3-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs scored. The 33-year-old veteran left-handed slugger had been away from the team for 17 days due to a back injury and headaches that were caused by an injection he received for his back. Rizzo is now hitting .229/.341/.500 with an .841 OPS, 31 home runs, 72 RBI, 73 runs scored and six stolen bases on the season, and he could make a difference with his power for those fantasy managers still playing for a title with the season winding down.

Anthony Rizzo Could Be Activated By Sunday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (head, back) took live batting practice ahead of his team's game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Rizzo has been sidelined since Aug. 31 with migraines and lower back soreness. The veteran infielder could possibly be ready to be activated from the injured list as early as Sunday. Rizzo is hitting .225 with 30 homers, 71 runs, 71 RBI and six steals on the season.

Anthony Rizzo Could Return This Weekend

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (head) said he's targeting a return in one of the team's next two series, but he won't play against the division-rival Boston Red Sox in a two-game series that begins on Tuesday. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger could be back in the lineup this weekend against the Milwaukee Brewers, though. He began experiencing headaches after receiving an injection for lower back issues and hasn't played since Aug. 31. Rizzo could be eased back into action when he returns, but he's still worth rostering in all leagues because of his elite power (30 homers, 71 RBI in 2022). With DJ LeMahieu also sidelined due to injury, veteran utility man Marwin Gonzalez has been playing first base regularly for the Yanks.

Anthony Rizzo No Longer Experiencing Headaches

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (head, back) is no longer experiencing headaches, according to manager Aaron Boone. Rizzo had a blood patch done on Friday and is expected to be with the team at the ballpark on Saturday. Boone also said that Rizzo could be able to play by the end of the team's upcoming road trip. The 33-year-old started experiencing headaches after he received an epidural injection last week for lower back pain. But it looks like he's turned a corner now, and he could return by Sept. 20 when the Yankees start a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at home. Rizzo is hitting just .225 on the year, but he has been a must-start in fantasy when on the field due to his 30 long balls, 71 RBI, 71 runs scored and six stolen bases in 414 at-bats.

Anthony Rizzo Heading For Injured List

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back, head) will be placed on the injured list, according to skipper Aaron Boone. First baseman Ronald Guzman will be added to the active roster in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rizzo received an epidural injection for his back injury last week, and he's been experiencing headaches ever since. There's no timetable for his return, and there's a chance he could miss most of the final month of the regular season in September. The 33-year-old veteran left-handed slugger has hit just .225 on the season, but he also has a .339 on-base percentage, 30 homers, 71 RBI, 71 runs and six stolen bases. Infielder DJ LeMahieu will likely continue seeing most of the playing time at first base for however long Rizzo is sidelined.

Anthony Rizzo Could Rejoin Team Wednesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) has been getting headaches after receiving an epidural injection for his injured back, but he is improving. Skipper Aaron Boone said that Rizzo might be able to rejoin the team on Wednesday. Rizzo had his epidural injection last Friday after dealing with back issues last week. The 33-year-old also visited with a specialist, but it appears that he's improving and could be back in the lineup this week. The Yankees are still hoping he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. In his absence, DJ LeMahieu has mostly been playing first base, but Marwin Gonzalez will man the cold corner on Monday against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Chris Archer. Rizzo is hitting just .225 this year, but he also has a .339 on-base percentage, an .832 OPS, 30 home runs and 71 RBI.

Anthony Rizzo To Visit Back Specialist

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) is remaining in California in order to visit a back specialist, according to manager Aaron Boone. It sounds like the Yankees could be without Rizzo for at least the weekend series. The 33-year-old continues to deal with lingering back issues. Fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if Rizzo does end up on the injured list. Although, there should be more information on Rizzo in the coming days. In the meantime, DJ LeMahieu will likely see more playing time at first base.

Anthony Rizzo Dealing With Back Issue

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) was out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with a back injury. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, the 33-year-old is not expected to be placed on the injured list. "He is not able to do the level of exercises he does to get ready every day," said Boone. "Could be out a couple of days, but won't be an IL situation." He is considered day-to-day but is available off the bench on Wednesday. DJ LeMahieu will handle first base duties while Rizzo is sidelined. The Yankees are off on Thursday; Rizzo's next chance to return will be Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
