Isaiah Spiller Practices In Full Wednesday
Los Angeles Chargers running back Isaiah Spiller (ankle) practiced in full on Wednesday. He had been dealing with an ankle injury but appeared fully recovered from the issue after practicing in full. The 21-year-old is third on the RB depth chart behind Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley, and Sony Michel. He will be available for Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chargers drafted Spiller in the fourth round, searching for running back depth behind Ekeler. With Ekeler being the undisputed starter in Los Angeles, Spiller has no fantasy value in Week 1 and is mainly a dynasty/roster stash heading into 2022.

Isaiah Spiller Returns To Practice
Los Angeles Chargers running back Isaiah Spiller (ankle) returned to practice on Tuesday. The 21-year-old exited their final preseason game and was sidelined from team activities. The fourth-round pick struggled to win the backup job while competing against Joshua Kelley during training camp, prompting the Chargers to name Kelley the No. 2 option. Spiller was a highly touted prospect entering the pre-draft process but performed poorly at the combine, resulting in several other backs coming off the board before him. The Texas A&M product will need to return to full health and demonstrate his value to the coaching staff to earn a role in this offense. Spiller remains more of a player to monitor in redraft leagues, but he possesses long-term upside for those in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Isaiah Spiller Could Miss Week 1
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Isaiah Spiller (ankle) will miss the final preseason game this week against the New Orleans Saints on Friday, and there is "a chance" that he'll also miss the Week 1 regular season opener against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, according to head coach Brandon Staley. The 21-year-old has been a popular target in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he can probably be left to the waiver wire in most redraft leagues to start the year, as he could wind up fourth on the RB depth chart behind Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree III. However, the fourth-rounder has plenty of long-term upside and could easily become Ekeler's primary backup in 2022 before all is said and done.

Isaiah Spiller Exits Saturday's Game With An Ankle Injury
Los Angeles Chargers running back Isaiah Spiller (ankle) left Saturday's preseason contest against the Cowboys during the second half and did not return. While there is not a timeline for his return, head coach Brandon Staley reported it "should not be anything serious." The 21-year-old finished with three carries for three yards. He was already struggling to climb the depth chart, so this will likely put him further behind teammates Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree III as the regular season approaches. It remains to be seen which of these three backs will be the backup for Austin Ekeler, but Spiller seemingly isn't a lock for the job. He'll need to return from his injury and begin to climb the depth chart before he is worth considering for any fantasy format outside of dynasty leagues.
