    Texans Waive Tyler Johnson

The Houston Texans waived wide receiver Tyler Johnson on Tuesday, according to the team. In a corresponding move, the team signed Tyron Johnson to their active roster to provide some receiving depth behind Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins, Chris Moore and Phillip Dorsett. In just two games played this year for the Texans, Tyler Johnson played 29 offensive snaps in Weeks 4 and 5 and didn't record a single target on offense. The 24-year-old former fifth-round selection by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 out of Minnesota caught 48 of 72 targets for 529 yards and two touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons in Tampa. He'll now be looking for work on the open market.

Texans Claim Tyler Johnson From Buccaneers

The Houston Texans claimed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tyler Johnson off waivers on Wednesday. It didn't take Johnson long to find a team after Tampa waived him on roster cutdown day on Tuesday. The 24-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2020 caught 48 of 72 targets for 529 yards and two touchdowns in 31 games (six starts) in his two seasons in Tampa, including a 36-360-0 line in 17 games (three starts) in 2021. He'll have to learn a new offense in Houston, but there is some opportunity behind Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins. Johnson will be competing for playing time with Chris Moore and Phillip Dorsett. For now, fantasy managers can leave him to the waiver wire in all leagues.

Tyler Johnson Can't Survive Roster Cuts

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut wide receiver Tyler Johnson on Tuesday, according to a source. Johnson had a good training camp, but the Bucs just have too many capable bodies in the receiver room. The former fifth-rounder played in all 17 regular season games a year ago and caught 36 of his 55 targets for 360 yards. The 24-year-old has 48 receptions for 529 yards and two touchdowns on 72 targets in his two seasons with the Buccaneers, and he's a candidate to be picked up on waivers by another team. Had Tampa not picked up veteran wideout Julio Jones this summer, there's a good chance Johnson would have made the 53-man roster.
