T.J. Hockenson To Play Key Role Sunday
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson has worked hard to learn his new team's offense and is expected to play a key role during Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler. He notes that the team "plans to get [Hockenson] in there as much as it can." The 25-year-old should be viewed as a solid TE1 option in his Vikings debut.

The Minnesota Vikings acquired tight end T.J. Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick from the Detroit Lions on Tuesday in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick, according to sources. It's a stunner before Tuesday's deadline. Irv Smith Jr. is dealing with a high-ankle sprain and will miss some time, so Hockenson will immediately jump in as Minnesota's top pass-catching tight end. Hockenson's fantasy upside should increase in a pass-happy Vikings offense, although there are plenty of mouths to feed in Minnesota. Back in Detroit, Brock Wright and rookie James Mitchell will see elevated roles the rest of the year, but the departure of Hockenson will mean more targets for Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond and running backs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

Hockenson is coming off of a dominant performance in Week 4 in which he operated as the primary target for quarterback Jared Goff with Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle), D.J. Chark (ankle), and D'Andre Swift (shoulder, ankle) all inactive. It is unclear if Hockenson's hip injury could force him to miss any time, but head coach Dan Campbell did indicate that several players would rest on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should pay attention to practice reports throughout the week, but Hockenson could be primed for a key role once again assuming he is able to suit up in Week 5.
