Jamison Crowder, Micah Hyde Returning To Practice

The Buffalo Bills designated wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) and safety Micah Hyde (neck) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, but neither player is expected to suit up for the wild-card playoff matchup on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Crowder last played in Week 4. The 29-year-old slot man could become an option for the Bills if they make a deep run in the postseason, which is very possible, but even then, Crowder will probably be a long shot for any fantasy production behind receivers Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie and rookie Khalil Shakir. Hyde underwent neck surgery in mid-October and only played in two games in 2022. It remains to be seen if he'll eventually be able to return for Buffalo's secondary if they advance past this weekend.

    Jamison Crowder Targeting Late-December Return

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle), who was placed on Injured Reserve before the Week 5 game due to a fractured ankle, is targeting a late-December return. Crowder suffered a clean break of his fibula and he began walking again a little under a month ago. He's been running on an underwater treadmill for the last two weeks and is intending to get back on the field to start jogging in "maybe like, two weeks." Getting Crowder back for the postseason would be big for the team's receiver depth, but they could also add free-agent Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) after they visit with him this weekend. Crowder would be an upgrade over normal slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie when working against zone coverage, but he's unlikely to have any fantasy appeal the rest of 2022.

Jamison Crowder Headed To Injured Reserve

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) is expected to be put on Injured Reserve, which means he'll have to miss at least the next four games after suffering a broken ankle in the Week 4 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Crowder's absence will mean more work for slot man Isaiah McKenzie (concussion), although his status is currently in doubt for Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If McKenzie isn't cleared from the league's concussion protocol, rookie Khalil Shakir could be forced into significant snaps this weekend. Crowder has been a fantasy afterthought so far in 2022 while working behind McKenzie in the slot. He's caught just six passes on 13 targets for 60 yards and no touchdowns in four games.

Isaiah McKenzie, Jamison Crowder Miss Practice Wednesday

Buffalo Bills wide receivers Isaiah McKenzie (concussion), Jamison Crowder (ankle) and Jake Kumerow (ankle) all missed Wednesday's practice. Head coach Sean McDermott said earlier that McKenzie would be limited, but that turns out not to be the case. He'll need to clear the league's concussion protocols in order to play in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Crowder broke his ankle last week and is out indefinitely, so if McKenzie cannot gain clearance, rookie Khalil Shakir would see a much bigger role out of the slot, as well as Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and tight end Dawson Knox. McKenzie has been a bright spot in Buffalo's offense through four games, posting a 15-153-3 line.

Jamison Crowder Out Indefinitely With Broken Ankle

Buffalo Bills veteran wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) suffered a broken ankle in the Week 4 win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source. Crowder will have additional tests to see what other damage he might have, but he's now out indefinitely. It's a tough break for the 29-year-old slot man, who had just six catches on 13 targets for 60 yards in four games before his injury. He wasn't a realistic option for starting fantasy lineups with Isaiah McKenzie the starter in the slot in 2022. Crowder isn't a must-stash in deep single-season formats. McKenzie should see more targets as a result, and it should also mean more work for rookie Khalil Shakir, but don't expect much out of the youngster in redraft leagues.

Jamison Crowder Doubtful To Return In Week 4

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) is doubtful to return against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. He hauled in one of four targets for seven yards before exiting. Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis will continue to operate as the Bills' top receivers while Isaiah McKenzie and Khalil Shakir occupy depth roles.
