Cowboys DE Sam Williams hospitalized after wreck

Dallas Cowboys rookie pass rusher Sam Williams was taken to the hospital after a car accident in Plano, Texas, on Thursday afternoon. A police spokesperson told media outlets that Williams collided with a vehicle that was attempting a turn in front of him at 2:15 local time. Williams and the other driver were both taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. Neither driver was seriously injured. Police are investigating whether Williams' speed played a role in the accident. The Cowboys said Williams' status for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles will be updated when appropriate. Williams, 23, has three sacks, seven quarterback hits, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 13 games (no starts) this season. He's also a mainstay on special teams for Dallas. The Cowboys selected Williams in the second round of this year's NFL draft. --Field Level Media
