Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Lack of targets behind Chiefs exit

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said he began to sour on his time with the Kansas City Chiefs after what he perceived as a lack of targets last season. Speaking on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay" podcast, Hill shed light on what ultimately led to his exit from the Chiefs during the offseason. "It got like that probably, like, mid-last season," Hill said. "I'm the type of guy ... I love playing ball and I love being by the team because football is a team sport, right? And there would be some games where I'd get two targets or I'd get three targets. We'd go into meetings and my coach would be like, 'Hey, 'Reek, we've got to get you involved.' So I'm calling my agent every week after they say some crazy stuff like that, like, 'Bro, I've got to get out of here.'" A six-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, Hill was targeted at least five times in all but four games last season. He finished 2021 with franchise records in both targets (159) and receptions (111). That said, Hill was acquired by the Dolphins in March for a package of five draft picks, including a first- and second-rounder in this year's draft. Hill, 28, has 100 catches (on 139 targets) for 1,460 yards and six touchdowns through 13 games this season. He has 579 career receptions for 8,090 yards and 62 touchdowns in 104 games (86 starts) for the Chiefs (2016-21) and Dolphins. He has another 749 yards rushing with six TDs. --Field Level Media
