Embiid getting night off as Sixers face Pistons
Joel Embiid will get the night off when the Philadelphia 76ers face the Pistons on Friday night in Detroit. The star center just needs some rest after logging so many minutes this season, said coach Brett Brown. "After the last few games with Memphis and Toronto, it became clear through the eye test and just listening that the time was now," Brown said. "So we've done that to help him and ultimately, help our team have him for when it matters most." Embiid has started all 26 games for the Sixers this season, averaging 34.3 minutes per contest. He's averaging career bests in points (26.3), rebounds (13.3) and assists (3.6). The 24-year-old is coming off a 5-for-17 shooting night in a loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. Mike Muscala or Amir Johnson will start in Embiid's place. --Field Level Media
