Warriors C Jones has surgery for torn pectoral
Golden State Warriors center Damian Jones underwent surgery Wednesday for a torn left pectoral muscle and should start rehab from the surgery in six weeks. A timetable for his return to the court will be determined after his rehab begins, the team said in a statement Friday. Jones, a third-year pro out of Vanderbilt, was earning the first significant playing time of his career this season, averaging 17.1 minutes a game and starting 22 of the 24 games in which he played. He was injured last Saturday in a game against the Detroit Pistons. He was putting up 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Power forward Draymond Green has missed 13 of the past 15 games but is expected to return Monday. And with David West, JaVale McGee and Zaza Pachulia leaving in the offseason, the Warriors may need to find a big man in the wake of Jones' extended absence. --Field Level Media
