  Phillies Settle With Rhys Hoskins Friday

  The Philadelphia Phillies and first baseman Rhys Hoskins avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $12 million deal on Friday, according to sources. In an even more formidable Phillies lineup heading into 2023 with the addition of superstar shortstop Trea Turner, Hoskins will be more attractive in fantasy in the heart of Philly's lineup. The 29-year-old finished up his sixth MLB season in 2022 by hitting .246/.332/.462 with a .794 OPS, 30 home runs, 79 RBI, 81 runs scored and two stolen bases in 672 plate appearances and 156 games. Hoskins has hit 27-plus home runs in four of his six seasons and should be money for fantasy managers again in 2023.

  Rhys Hoskins On The Bench Against Braves

  Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins (hand) is out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Atlanta Braves. Hoskins was hit on the hand by a pitch on Wednesday, although X-rays thankfully came back negative. He won't start the first game of the series against Atlanta, but there's a chance he'll start at some point this weekend. Hoskins is deserving of being returned to all starting fantasy lineups when he's back in Philly's lineup, as he's clubbed 28 homers and driven in 71 runs in 524 at-bats this year. Alec Bohm will shift to first base and hit second on Friday, while Yairo Munoz is starting at the hot corner and batting eighth against Braves left-hander Max Fried.

  Rhys Hoskins Not Starting On Thursday

  Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins (hand) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Miami Marlins. Hoskins was forced from Wednesday's game early after being hit by a pitch in the hand, but thankfully X-rays came back negative and he's just dealing with a contusion. There's a chance that the 29-year-old slugger could be right back in the lineup on Friday for the start of a big series against the Atlanta Braves. With Hoskins on the bench Thursday, Alec Bohm will move across the diamond to first base and hit fifth, while Edmundo Sosa is manning the hot corner and batting ninth in the order against Marlins right-hander Pablo Lopez.

Hoskins has a bruise and is going for X-rays. Fantasy managers and the Phillies can ill-afford a serious injury to Hoskins at this juncture of the season, so they'll be crossing their fingers for his X-rays to come back negative. For now, consider the 29-year-old slugger to be day-to-day. Before leaving the contest, Hoskins was hitless in his only at-bat. Coming into Tuesday's game, Hoskins was slashing .250/.338/.470 with an .809 OPS, 28 home runs, 71 RBI, 75 runs scored and one stolen base in 523 at-bats for the Phils.
