Charlie Blackmon Plans To Pick Up 2023 Player Option
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon told reporters on Friday that he intends to exercise his $18 million player option for the 2023 season. Blackmon went on to state that he is not thinking beyond the 2023 campaign at the moment. The veteran outfielder went on the injured list earlier in the week with a knee injury that ended his 2022 season. Blackmon is 36 now, but he still showed he has some gas left in the tank as he hit .264 with 16 homers, 78 RBI, 60 runs, and four steals across 135 games played.

Charlie Blackmon Out For The Season
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a torn meniscus in his left knee. He will miss the rest of the season. The 36-year-old slashed .264/.314/.419 with 16 home runs, 78 RBI, 60 runs, and four stolen bases over 577 plate appearances in 135 games in 2022. There is no timetable for his recovery, but he is expected to return when Spring Training starts next season. Michael Toglia and Yonathan Daza should see an uptick in at-bats while Blackmon is sidelined.

Charlie Blackmon In The Lineup Tuesday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants and right-hander Logan Webb. Blackmon was forced from Sunday's game early against the San Diego Padres with left hamstring soreness, but he will end up not missing a game after Monday's off day. The 36-year-old veteran outfielder has been cold in the month of September, going 16-for-74 (.216) with no homers, seven RBI, three runs scored and 20 strikeouts in 20 games. However, he's been better recently, going 11-for-33 (.333) with three RBI and two runs scored in nine games since Sept. 17.

Charlie Blackmon Likely To Avoid Injured List
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon isn't expected to land on the injured list after exiting Thursday's game with a hamstring issue. Manager Bud Black told Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post that the veteran will be okay in a couple of days. This comment casts doubt on Blackmon's availability for Friday, but he could be back in the lineup as soon as this coming weekend. The 34-year-old went 1-for-1 with a single on Thursday and has now logged a base hit in six of his last seven games. Expect Connor Joe to fill Blackmon's spot in the lineup for the duration of his absence.
