Reports: Red Sox reach 11-year extension with Rafael Devers
The Boston Red Sox and star third baseman Rafael Devers are in agreement on an 11-year extension worth $331 million, multiple outlets reported Wednesday. The deal includes a $20 million signing bonus, per the reports, and is pending a physical. The deal comes one day after the sides agreed on a one-year, $17.5 million deal for 2023 to avoid arbitration. Wednesday's extension kicks in for the 2024 season. Devers batted .295 with 27 homers and 88 RBIs in 141 games in 2022. Devers, 26, is a career .283/.342/.512 hitter with 139 home runs and 455 RBIs in 689 games over six seasons with Boston. Devers won a World Series in 2018, led the American League with 54 doubles in 2019 and made the All-Star team in 2021 and 2022. --Field Level Media
