Reports: Giants to sign OF Michael Conforto

Outfielder Michael Conforto agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants, multiple outlets reported on Friday. Conforto can return to free agency in the 2023 offseason if he declines a player option on the two-year, $36 million deal, ESPN reported. Conforto was an All-Star in 2017 and has played only for the New York Mets. The deal comes after Conforto, 29, missed the 2022 season following shoulder surgery and is pending a physical. Also noteworthy: Conforto is represented by Scott Boras. In light of the recent turn of events involving shortstop Carlos Correa, also represented by Boras, the Giants won't be making anything official prematurely. Correa earlier this week backpedaled out of an agreement with the Giants after the team questioned his health following the standard physical teams give players to receive franchise medical approval to execute a contract. Instead, Correa agreed to a $315 million contract with the Mets only hours after the "difference of opinion" over medicals. Conforto spent seven seasons with the Mets and is a career .255 hitter with 132 home runs, 396 RBIs and an .824 OPS. --Field Level Media
