Reports: Padres signing RHP Seth Lugo
The San Diego Padres are finalizing a deal with free agent right-hander Seth Lugo, multiple outlets reported Monday. The agreement, which is pending the results of a physical, is for two years and about $15 million and includes an opt-out after 2023, per MLB Network. Lugo, 33, will reportedly get the opportunity to start with the Padres. He was 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA and three saves in 62 relief appearances for the New York Mets in 2022. Over seven seasons with the Mets, Lugo posted a 32-24 record with a 3.48 ERA and 16 saves in 275 games (68 starts). He has struck out 508 batters and walked 137 in 494 2/3 innings. New York drafted him in the 34th round in 2011. --Field Level Media
