Report: Astros, RHP Rafael Montero reach 3-year deal
The Houston Astros agreed to a three-year, $34.5 million deal with reliever Rafael Montero, multiple outlets reported Saturday. The 32-year-old right-hander was 5-2 with a 2.37 ERA and 14 saves in 71 games during the 2022 regular season. Montero was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 10 postseason appearances for the World Series champions. Houston acquired Montero in a July 2021 trade with the Seattle Mariners. He is 18-23 with a 4.64 ERA and 29 saves in 212 games (30 starts) with the New York Mets (2014-17), Texas Rangers (2019-20), Mariners (2021) and Astros. --Field Level Media
