Giants sign RHP DeSclafani to one-year deal
The San Francisco Giants signed free-agent right-handed starter Anthony DeSclafani to help a staff that was 11th in the National League last season with a 4.99 ERA. The deal is worth $6 million, according to The Athletic, with performance-based incentives. DeSclafani, 30, was 1-2 with a 7.22 ERA over nine outings (seven starts) with the Cincinnati Reds last season. He has six years of major league experience, with the last five of those with the Reds. He is 37-39 lifetime with a 4.29 ERA in 125 appearances (115 starts). The former sixth-round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011 has never finished a season with double-digit victories, although he was 9-9 with a 3.89 ERA in 31 starts for the Reds in 2019. --Field Level Media
