Professional ice hockey player Nikolai Kovalenko is a member of the National Hockey League (NHL). On October 17, 1999, while his father Andrei Kovalenko was a player for the Carolina Hurricanes, he was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Andrei Kovalenko, a former NHL player who saw success in the league in the 1990s, is the father of Nikolai.<\/p>\n

The Colorado Avalanche selected Nikolai Kovalenko in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. At 171st overall, he was chosen in the sixth round. He spent most of his formative years playing in the Russian elite league, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), where he honed his talents and gained invaluable experience. His NHL career is still in its early stages.<\/p>\n
