Russian professional ice hockey goalie Ilya Alexeyevich Samsonov was born on February 22, 1997, and he now plays goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL).<\/p>\n

The next season, he finally made his NHL debut, backing up starter Braden Holtby primarily. Samsonov became just the third NHL rookie goalkeeper to win his first eleven games after winning his debut, and the first since 1973\u201374, by winning ten more games after that.<\/p>\n
