Born in America on March 15, 1996, Brendan Lemieux plays professional ice hockey as a left winger for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes (NHL). Lemieux was chosen by the Buffalo Sabres with the 31st overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He was once a player with the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Winnipeg Jets.<\/p>\n

Lemieux, the son of former NHL player Claude Lemieux, started playing hockey against the desires of his father when he was very young. He played minor ice hockey for The Hill Academy and the Greater Toronto Hockey League.<\/p>\n

Lemieux was named after his father’s old New Jersey Devils teammate, Brendan Shanahan, and was born on March 15, 1996, in Denver, Colorado, while his father Claude was playing for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). The children of Wayne Gretzky had a childhood buddy in Lemieux, the eldest son of Claude and his second wife Deborah. Being a competitive kid, he started playing baseball and ice hockey at an early age.<\/p>\n
