Born on July 26, 1997, Sebastian Aho is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who serves as the Carolina Hurricanes’ alternate captain in the National Hockey League (NHL).<\/p>\n

Aho used to play in the Finnish SM-liiga for Oulun K\u00e4rp\u00e4t. In the 2013\u201314 season, Aho made his professional debut with Oulun K\u00e4rp\u00e4t. Having been selected 35th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he debuted in the NHL with the Hurricanes in 2016\u201317.<\/p>\n

Aho became the first player to sign an offer sheet since Ryan O’Reilly in 2013 when he signed one with the Montreal Canadiens on July 1, 2019. A sizable bonus structure was part of the deal, with $21.7 million available in the first year alone. The Hurricanes formally matched the offer sheet on July 7.<\/p>\n

Forward Sebastian Aho was re-signed by the Hurricanes on July 26, 2023, to an eight-year, $78 million contract deal. The agreement pays Aho an average-annual value (AAV) of $9.75 million through 2031\u20132032 and starts with the 2024\u20132025 NHL season.<\/p>\n
