In 2014, during an interview with The New Yorker, Kobe Bryant said that he adopted this persona as a way to differentiate his life outside of the basketball court.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining his decision, Bryant stated, \u201cThe name [Kobe Bryant] just evokes such a negative emotion. If I create this alter ego, so now when I play, this is what\u2019s coming out of your mouth, it separates the personal stuff. It is well known for its fearlessness, quickness, and lethal blows. We can see a mirror of Kobe&#8217;s own basketball approach in him when we look at him: brutal, precise, and relentless.
