That is the No-trade clause!<\/p>\n<h2>How Does No-Trade Clause In The NBA Function: Explained<\/h2>\n<p>Even if a player consents to being transferred, his no-trade clause is still in effect until the conclusion of his contract. Having said that, a player can preserve a no-trade clause in a contract even though they cannot negotiate one into an extension. A player who accepts a partial no-trade clause may occasionally be permitted to update the teams to which he cannot be dealt without his approval once each year. In some cases, clubs will agree to a complete no-trade provision, which enables the player to prevent a move to all 29 teams.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, a player who has collected 10 years of Major League service time and has played the last five seasons in a row for the same organization acquires the ability to veto a trade to any team.
