Derek Shelton is an American professional baseball instructor and a former catcher. He now serves as the manager of the MLB’s Pittsburgh Pirates. He managed and coached in the New York Yankees minor league system between 1997 and 2002 after his playing days with the team came to an end in 1993. After that, beginning in 2003, he worked as the Cleveland Indians’ minor league hitting coordinator. Shelton served as the Cleveland Indians’ hitting coach from 2005 to 2009 and the Tampa Bay Rays from 2010 to 2016.<\/p>\n
