While some of his calculated bets have paid off, Jones was forced to confess one of them was a mistake.<\/p>\n<h2>Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones\u00a0Acknowledges Choosing Ezekiel Elliott 4th Overall In The 2016 NFL Draft Was Not The Correct Decision<\/h2>\n<p>In anticipation of the 2023 NFL Draft, which starts on Thursday and lasts through Saturday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was in a good mood on Monday during the team&#8217;s annual pre-draft news conference. Jones made fun of vice president Stephen Jones, claiming that the poor selections were all his fault and that the strong selections were all his doing.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Will McClay will ever be elevated to general manager, Jones reminded everyone that the Cowboys had a general manager and thanked McClay for managing the scouting department.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Ezekiel Elliott is \u201cstill an outstanding football player.\u201d At position now, EVP Stephen Jones said team feels \u201creally good\u201d about Tony Pollard. With 1,631 running yards and an average of 108.7 yards per game in 2016, the former Ohio State standout was the NFL&#8217;s top rusher.
