After a right foot injury limited LeMahieu&#8217;s performance in the second half, he has been fine this spring, according to Boone, who added that there have been &#8220;zero problems&#8221; for months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shortstop (1):<\/strong> Anthony Volpe- Since Derek Jeter in 1996, Volpe is the youngest player to start for the Yankees on Opening Day, and he enters the Majors with sky-high hopes. Despite Donaldson hitting just.222 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs in 132 games last season, Boone said that he is &#8220;not far removed from that.&#8221; \u201cI think you\u2019re crazy to think that a bounce-back is not in there, offensively,\u201d Boone said. \u201cThis guy still has bat speed and is super talented. Cordero, who spent Spring Training with the Orioles before being granted his release from the club on Monday, slashed .219\/.300\/.397 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 84 games with the Red Sox last season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starting pitchers (5):<\/strong> Gerrit Cole, Domingo Germ\u00e1n, Jhony Brito, Clarke Schmidt, Nestor Cortes- The anticipated fifth-starter competition between Germ\u00e1n and Schmidt changed into a preseason practise for the regular season because Carlos Rod\u00f3n was expected to open the season on the injury list. Cole received his fourth straight Opening Day start, and Brito replaces Luis Severino, who began the season on the injured list.
