Last year, Raiders-Cowboys on Thanksgiving had the highest regular-season audience, with 40.8 million average viewer. However, there is an interesting tradition that is followed every year for thanksgiving in the NFL. Richards in 1934. In a bid to attract more fans to the stadium, Richards started organizing matches on thanksgiving, which has become a longstanding tradition of the league.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">By saying the lions shouldn\u2019t play on Thanksgiving you\u2019re essentially saying you don\u2019t value tradition or the history of the NFL. The Cowboys started playing regularly on thanksgiving since 1966.
