There have been rumors of NBA owners losing interest in expanding for more than a year. It was a tough shot at this point to persuade two-thirds of them to vote in favor of expansion because they had cooled off sufficiently.<\/p>\n

That opinion was mirrored by Commissioner Adam Silver immediately before the NBA Finals began. Contrary to speculations, the NBA is not anticipated to really discuss expansion until at least a few years from now, when the new CBA and new broadcast and streaming rights agreements have been finalized. If the owners do decide to let people in, they will hold off until they can do it at a profit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat talk is not true,\u201d<\/em> Silver said when asked about expansion in 2024<\/a>. \u201cAt least maybe there are people talking who are not at the league office about us potentially expanding after the 2024 season. We are not discussing that at this time.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Seattle Kraken Co-Owner says will follow NBA on expansion<\/h2>\n

Seattle’s NBA fans have been waiting for the league’s return with more than enough patience, but they will now have to wait a bit longer. When questioned by Fox Sports 13 in Seattle about speculations of an NBA full-time return to the city, Seattle Kracken co-owner and CEO Tod Leiweke struck the appropriate tone.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m not going to address that [rumor],” Tod said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s going to be a lot of rumors and innuendos. You know, we think the best thing that we can do is not ever get ahead of the league. They\u2019ve got big issues coming: They\u2019re in a CBA discussion, and they\u2019ve got broadcast deals coming up. In due time, they will get to this. And in due time, we\u2019re going to be well positioned.”<\/em><\/p>\n
