In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears<\/a> picked Justin Fields, who they anticipate will become their franchise quarterback. He led the team for most of 2021, compiling a 6-11 record.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chicago Bears Analysis – What makes the Bears competitive this season?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Chicago Bears have made the playoffs twice in the last four seasons and haven’t won the NFC North since 2018, but they haven’t captured a Super Bowl since 1985. Fields will get better, but his record as a starter last year was only 2-8. Fields lost his biggest weapon while still young, and the Bears were unable to replicate his output.<\/span><\/p>\n

After finishing 22nd in points allowed the previous season, the Bear’s defense didn’t do much to improve. Chicago’s offense took a step back, and they will be depending on Fields, who didn’t start out very well and completed less than 60% of his passes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pro Football Focus gave the Bears’ draft and free agency a B- and C, respectively. They were described as “average” all around. They should struggle early and frequently, and that should come through.<\/span><\/p>\n

The year 2021 saw a lot of change. It turned out to be a significant step back after 2020’s playoff berth. Justin Fields struggled on offense and Matt Nagy struggled to get Justin Fields going. The one bright spot in the Bears’ offensive huddle was Allen Robinson, who has since left for better lands.<\/span><\/p>\n
