The Houston Texans’ 2022 season will be their 21st in the National Football League and their first under Lovie Smith after David Culley was fired at the conclusion of the 2021 campaign. Deshaun Watson, the team’s veteran quarterback, won’t be playing for the first time since 2016 because he was dealt to the Cleveland Browns on March 18, 2022.<\/p>\n

The franchise is moving in the direction of order after two turbulent campaigns. After the haphazard unit<\/a> of 2021, there will be progress. Lovie Smith, the Texans’ second new head coach in as many seasons and last season’s defensive coordinator, will guide a youthful club that will be contending for many open positions.<\/p>\n

In order to avoid producing a four-win season for the third straight year, the Texans must transform their run game into a unit that is even marginally effective. After spending the previous season as Houston’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Pep Hamilton is receiving a second chance to serve as a full-time NFL offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n
