The \u2018GOAT\u2019 debate is something that fans across all sports argue over. In every sport, there are a few athletes that have separated themselves so far away from the rest of the pack that their achievements seem inhuman at times and this is no different in MMA. The likes of Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, and Khabib Nurmagomedov among others all make a strong case for being considered the \u2018GOAT\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While most fans in MMA regard Jones as the greatest or one of the greatest, prominent manager Ali Abdelaziz does not see it the same way. In a recent interview he said, <\/span>\u201cThe G.O.A.T. means inside the cage, outside the cage. Khabib never had close fight. You look at Jon Jones, his last three fights are very close fights. Khabib never even had a close fight. Dominance. Khabib is better. Undefeated. In many rounds Khabib is better. Outside the cage Khabib is better. Khabib never had issues with USADA. None of this stuff. Of course Jon Jones is great fighter, but he could not tie the shoes of Khabib. I don\u2019t think he can. He\u2019s good, but Khabib is on another level.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

He continued, <\/span>\u201cMany people you can say they\u2019re GOATs. Georges St-Pierre, what a great human being. How can you not say he\u2019s the GOAT \u2026 I\u2019m not taking anything away from Jon Jones, but I don\u2019t think he is. I can put Georges St-Pierre before him.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

There is no denying that Jon Jones is an all-time great. \u2018Bones\u2019 has more title defenses in the UFC<\/a> than Nurmagomedov has fights. Therefore, there is no comparison statistically.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, outside the cage, Jones has been far from a role model and has consistently found himself in trouble which is why in the eyes of many people he does not fit into the \u2018GOAT\u2019 conversation. Needless to say, Abdelaziz\u2019s comments are a big exaggerated to say the least as he tires to prop up his own fighter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
