Charles Oliveira has firmly established himself as the best lightweight in the world with his most recent win over Justin Gaethje. \u2018Do Bronx\u2019 is currently on an 11-fight win streak with 10 of those wins coming via finishes. In the process, he has broken the record for the most submission wins in the UFC as well as the most finishes in the UFC among others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, at this point in time, Oliveira does not officially hold the lightweight belt in the UFC. The Brazilian champion missed weight in his title defense against Justin Gaethje, which forced the UFC<\/a> to strip him off his title. The common consensus is that a fight between Oliveira and Makhachev for the lightweight belt will take place sometime in the second half of the year. While many fans and pundits alike believe that Makhachev is the biggest test for Oliveira at this point in time, the last man to defeat \u2018Do Bronx\u2019 feels there is another top-ranked fighter that is a bigger threat than Khabib Nurmagomedov\u2019s protege.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul Felder names a bigger threat than Islam Makhachev for Charles Oliveira<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In a recent interview, Felder suggested that Beneil Dariush might be a bigger challenge for Oliveira than Makhachev. He said<\/a>,<\/span> \u201cI am retired, so it can\u2019t be me, but dare I say someone like Beneil Dariush is more of a threat to [Charles Oliveira\u2019s] particular style. Because \u2014 and vice versa, I said the same thing when Khabib [Nurmagomedov] was still around \u2014 I always said that I thought Charles would be one of the bigger threats to him because of his style and the way he grapples and accepts bottom position but is so dangerous from there.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Felder continued,<\/span> \u201cI think a guy like Charles, you\u2019ve got to get somebody [like Dariush]. The way he ran through Tony [Ferguson] was impressive. I think Beneil [is a threat to Oliveira], even more so than [Islam] Makhachev, just because [Makhachev] going to try and wrestle him, and Charles he has a way around those kinds of exchanges. It doesn\u2019t matter if you have great takedown defense against Charles Oliveira. He will find a way to your back. I\u2019m going to throw a big Hail Mary out there and say my pick [to beat Oliveira] is Beneil Dariush.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
