In the two decades that fighters have been competing in the UFC, there have only been a handful of front kick knockouts that have taken place. The likes of Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, and more recently Michael Chandler are a few fighters that belong to this exclusive club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Machida shared his thoughts on Chandler\u2019s knockout win over Ferguson. He said<\/a>, <\/span>\u201cWe tend to diminish [others]. It\u2019s not easy to land a kick like that. [People criticize,] \u2018If his feet was like that, or his knee was a bit bent.\u2019 I don\u2019t care. What matters to me is how effective it was. [If] I\u2019m going out to hunt and I have the best weapon, but I wasn\u2019t effective, what\u2019s the point? [If] my weapon isn\u2019t that good, but I went there and killed the animal? That means I was effective, that I did it well.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u2018The Dragon\u2019 continued, <\/span>\u201cI\u2019ve looked at things that way in the past, but now I don\u2019t,\u201d Machida said. \u201cMartial arts, like the name says, is art. And like art, anything can come from it. You look at a painting from Leonardo da Vinci and sometimes you don\u2019t see beauty, but someone with more sensibility than you will be able to see something there. \u2018This is so beautiful, look at what this person thought. It\u2019s the same thing with a kick like this. I look at martial art in a holistic way, you know? Did it work well? So it\u2019s a 10.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
