John Nogowski fouled out to third, but Polanco beat out an infield single deep in the hole to short, scoring Hayes to put Pittsburgh up 6-5.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Newman singled and Michael Perez walked to load the bases. Reynolds then delivered a two-run single to center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Blaine Hardy (0-1), who last pitched in the majors in 2019 with Detroit and was called up from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, pitched the 10th and took the loss in his first appearance with Milwaukee.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>David Bednar (3-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>After getting shut down by Houser, the Pirates broke through against the Brewers&#8217; bullpen for five runs in the seventh to erase a 4-0 deficit.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Houser walked Gamel to open the seventh and then retired Nogowski on a foul fly to right. Daniel Norris relieved and promptly allowed a single to Polanco, Pittsburgh&#8217;s first hit. Newman followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 4-1. Perez walked on four pitches to load the bases.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>John Curtiss relieved and shortstop Willy Adames booted pinch hitter Reynolds&#8217; grounder, allowing Polanco score and Reynolds to reach on base. Hoy Park, acquired last week from the New York Yankees, cleared the bases with a double down the right-field line to put Pittsburgh up 5-4.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Milwaukee tied it in the bottom half. Adames singled to open the frame, and Avisail Garcia greeted reliever Chris Stratton with a two-out RBI double to the gap in left-center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Houser, who struck out four and walked five, and was charged with one run in his 104-pitch outing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the first on a ground-rule double by Adames and an RBI single by Garcia.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Milwaukee added two runs in the third. Adames opened with his 19th homer.
