NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 16

The rise of unheralded players in the final weeks of the season when teams decide to give youngsters a shot is nothing new in Fantasy Football. For the playoffs, this can represent the difference in the matchups leading to your league final, and that’s why it’s still important to pay attention to the waivers once the season goes down to the wire.

Once again, it was a week filled with surprising players taking the spotlight and even helping underdogs surprise the favorites, both in Fantasy Football and in the NFL. When the waiver wire goes up in Week 16, you should be paying attention for those names that can give your team a boost for the final weeks.

With that put into context, let’s check into the Waiver Wire for Week 16 of Fantasy Football and some of the names you should target to improve your team:

Tyler Huntley, QB, Baltimore Ravens

Huntley’s play was a major surprise for the Ravens, as they almost took down the Packers with a four-touchdown game from the backup quarterback. Huntley obviously comes with a major question mark: there’s no point picking him up if Lamar Jackson returns next week – but his great game might give the Ravens time to rest Lamar properly knowing they have a more than capable backup.

In the 31-30 loss against the Packers, Huntley threw for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns over 28 completed passes, also rushing for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns over 13 carries. There’s a lot of potential there with his dual-threat ability – again, the major ‘if’ here is whether Lamar will be back or not. If Jackson is still not healthy enough, Huntley is worth of an start.

Craig Reynolds, RB, Detroit Lions

Who is this kid? Reynolds is a journeyman who’s been through practice squads since the 2019 season out of Kutztown, a D-II College in Pennsylvania. He got his first career start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and was the main force behind the Lions’ upset 30-12 win, their second of the season. Reynolds amassed 112 yards over 26 carries.

Reynolds already signed a new contract that keeps him in Detroit for at least 2022, which serves as proof of how much the team values their new found jewelry. Running backs are always hard to find in Fantasy, and definitely Craig will be available on the waiver wire for you. He can be the surprise weapon for your team to reach the final.

Gabriel Davis, WR, Buffalo Bills

Davis isn’t the primary pass catcher option for the Bills, but he doesn’t need to be as well. The passing volume in Buffalo is high, and with Emmanuel Sanders still nursing an injury, plus Cole Beasley heading to Reserve/COVID-19 list, he suddenly became the second option for Josh Allen: four touchdowns over the last three weeks help his cause, of course.

Davis should be available in most Fantasy leagues, although you have to be quick to grab him because his name is gathering more and more attention recently. If you can, pick him up.
